30 Days to Hawaii: Flying on Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

It’s not uncommon to know someone who is superstitious about this day; it’s estimated that over 17 million people in the world have friggatriskaidekaphobics, or the fear of Friday the 13th. This irrational (at least to me) fear has resulted in the absence of the number 13 from airplane rows, entire floors on high rises, and hotel rooms.

Another effect of Friday the 13th is a dip in airfares! According to Kayak, prices on airfares drop by as much as 20% on this date, so if you’re looking for a good discount, simply fly when everyone else is afraid to so do! This is definitely good news for the un-superstitious flyer, as the lack of demand often means cut price deals on last minute seats.
